Donna B. McElroy


Donna B. McElroy joined the firm in 2006 as an associate attorney.  Ms. McElroy’s practice focuses on divorce, custody, child support, alimony, property disposition, guardianships, child’s best interest attorney, as well as Children in Need of Assistance and Termination of Parental Rights matters.  Prior to joining LF&B, Ms. McElroy worked as a staff attorney for the Attorney’s General’s office at the Maryland Insurance Administration, and as an associate for Hooper & Jacobs, LLC in their Towson office. Ms. McElroy began her legal career as a Judicial Law Clerk for The Honorable Vicki Ballou-Watts and The Honorable J. William Hinkel.

Ms. McElroy obtained her B.S. in Secondary Education from East Stroudsburg University, her Masters Degree from Towson University, and her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2001.  While at the University of Baltimore she was the associate managing editor of the Law Review and a participant in the Robert F. Wagner Labor and Employment Law Moot Court competition.

Ms. McElroy has been a member of and actively involved in a number of professional organizations including the Harford County Bar Association, the Baltimore County Bar Association, the Bar Association of Baltimore City, the Women’s Bar Association, the Maryland State Bar Association, the National Association of Professional Women, and the American Bar Association.

Ms. McElroy’s publications include: Sentence Enhancement Statute Does Not Permit Court to Use Time Spent in Pretrial Detention in Computing Statutory Predicate that Defendant Must Have Served “at Least One Term of Confinement of at Least 180 Days in a Correctional Institution.” 31.2 U. Balt. L.F. 3 (2001); and, The Consideration of Race in Child Placement: Does it Serve the Best Interests of Black and Biracial Children? 2.2 Margins 231 (2003).  In 1995, as a high school teacher in Baltimore County, Ms. McElroy was named as the  Professional Legal Excellence Award Recipient, for her work towards the Advancement of Public Understanding of the Law, given by the Fellows of the Maryland Bar Foundation.

Ms. McElroy is a mother of four young men, and an avid Orioles and Ravens fan.
